4 Signs of Fake Friends

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Fake friends would often stick by your side during their moment of need, which is most often their sole purpose. Unlike true friends, fake ones would not hesitate to use you and would not even care to help you with your problems.

Rather than going through the fuss of experiencing a fake friendship, here are the four characteristics of such people to look out for:

1. Never around when you need them

A true friend is guaranteed to be beside you even at our lowest point in life. They would not hesitate to simply entertain you when you are going through challenging moments, unlike opportunistic fake friends that only exists in your happiest moments and is nowhere to be found when you need help.

2. Easily jealous of your success

A good friend would certainly be happy for you when you could finally accomplish something you have chased for throughout our life. But if you find a friend that has suddenly become jealous of what you have achieved, it is a clear sign that that ‘friend’ will not be with you for the long run.

3. Lie after lie

It is still understandable when a friend lies to you for the sake of entertaining you or for reasons to uplift you, even though lying, in general, is not a good sign. But if one of your friends is clearly lying to you about anything just for the sake of being ahead of you, it should be a clear indication that they are not a great friend material.

4. Betraying your trust

Being betrayed is not a nice experience, especially by a person you consider a friend. A fake friend would most likely betray your trust in any possible chance. If your friend is starting to show signs of this, it is best to leave him/her as soon as possible.
