A Third, Stronger Earthquake Rocks Bali 38 Minutes after the First Two

TEMPO.CO, JakartaBali was hit by a third earthquake in a span of less than one hour today, December 13, this time with a stronger magnitude of 5.2. The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported the epicenter at coordinates 8.16 south latitude and 115.62 east longitude at 17:38 local time.

"It is 23 kilometers northeast of KarangAsem, Bali," wrote the BMKG.

The third earthquake, which happened just 38 minutes after the previous earthquake, had no potential for a tsunami. The earthquake was a shallow one with an epicenter at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The first earthquake happened in Karangasem 16:65 with a magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter scale. Data from the BMKG said that the epicenter was at 8.24 South Latitude, 115.60 East Longitude or 14 kilometers northeast of KarangAsem, also at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The second earthquake came just minutes later at 17:00, with a magnitude of 4.7. The epicenter was at 8.24 south latitude and 115.57 east longitude.
