TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Management of Masjid al-Haram and Masjid an-Nabawi in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, has launched a mobile phone app showing the directions in Masjid al-Haram (the Grand Mosque) dubbed 'Al-Maqsad'.
The app is intended to assist visitors in determining their location accurately inside the corridor of the Grand Mosque and guide their way anywhere they want to go.
No internet connection needed to use the app. The user only needs to activate the Bluetooth when inside the mosque and activate the GPS outside the Masjid al-Haram.
iPhone users can download the app here , while Android users can download the app here .
In 2011, Masjid al-Haram was expanded from 356,000 to 400,000 square meters. After its expansion, the mosque is able to accommodate 2.5 million pilgrims. With such extensive capacity and the numerous pilgrims, particularly during the hajj time, pilgrims can easily be confused or lost inside the Grand Mosque.
This app is expected to be able to help the pilgrims when performing their rituals.
