Texas and Alabama originally agreed to a home-and-home series back in 2018. The two teams previously played each other nine times, but their last regular-season matchup was a 19-10 victory for the Longhorns on Oct. 18, 2022.
Their most recent meeting prior to last year was in the 2010 BCS National Championship game. Both teams entered that matchup undefeated with 13-0 records.
Alabama's defense dominated the game by forcing five turnovers, including four interceptions from Garrett Gilbert, in a 37-21 win to earn Nick Saban his first national title with the program.
The first game of the home-and-home was played Sept. 10, 2022. The Crimson Tide went into Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium as the No. 1 team in the Associated Press Top 25.
In front of a raucous home crowd, the Longhorns led for most of the second half but the offense had to settle for three field goals inside the red zone and missed a fourth right before halftime.
Alabama scored 10 points in the fourth quarter, including Will Reichard's 33-yard field goal with 10 seconds remaining to escape with a 20-19 victory.
Both teams could go into next week's matchup ranked in the top 10 of the AP poll. Alabama opened the season as the No. 4 team in the nation. Texas is currently at No. 11, its highest ranking in the Top 25 since 2020 (No. 8).
Alabama hasn't lost a true home game since a 46-41 defeat against LSU on Nov. 9, 2019. Texas hasn't beaten a top-10 team on the road since a 41-34 win over No. 6 Oklahoma State on Oct. 31, 2020.
