Big Smo’s Rise to Fame and Net Worth of $3 Million
Big Smo, whose real name is John Lee Smith, is an American country rap artist, songwriter, producer, and director. He was born in San Diego, California, but grew up on his family farm just outside of Shelbyville, Tennessee. With his father’s military background, Big Smo started his rap career in 1999, eventually producing his first album through Yayoda Records three years later.
As he gained popularity, Big Smo realized that many children were listening to his music, so he started cleaning up his lyrics. He produced two albums on his own in 2003 and 2004, and then returned to Yayoda for a fourth release in 2007.
In 2010, Big Smo produced “American Made,” which became a breakout hit. The music video for his track “Kickin’ It in Tennessee” went viral on YouTube, garnering over 5 million views. Warner Bros. Records signed him, and he has since released two EPs and his first full-length studio album, “Kuntry Livin’.”
Big Smo’s fame grew further with A&E’s reality television series called “Big Smo,” which aired in 2014 and followed his life. As of 2021, his net worth is estimated to be $3 million.
