Heavyweight boxer Jarrell Miller was arrested Tuesday in Hollywood, Florida, following an alleged carjacking, according to Marisela Burgos and Kevin Boulandier of WSVN-7 News Miami.
Miller is accused of attacking a Haims Motors employee and fleeing in a Dodge Ram truck that had recently been repossessed by the dealership.
The employee told detectives that a woman had approached him to ask if she could retrieve her cellphone that she left in the vehicle. The employee went to get the keys and was going to unlock the vehicle when Miller allegedly "grabbed him from behind, placed him in a chokehold and demanded the keys."
Miller allegedly slammed the employee to the ground before fleeing the scene in the vehicle, which had a tracker in it.
Police were able to locate Miller and the vehicle due to the tracker, and they charged him with carjacking without a weapon and burglary with assault.
Miller remained behind bars at Broward County Jail as of late Wednesday night. His bond was set at $30,000.
The alleged attack comes less than two weeks after Miller suffered the first loss of his professional career to Daniel Dubois by 12th-round TKO in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He is 26-1-1 in his boxing career.
