Personal Statement

I am an athlete turned golfer with tremendous upside.

I am a 4.0 student who studies hard every night.

I have a relentless work ethic, am extremely coachable, a great teammate, and will make you proud to be on your roster.

Here's my story:

I was an all-star baseball player and multi-sport athlete all of my life until high school. I started playing competitive golf as a freshman in high school, first as a the #3 starter on my varsity team and then on the Southern California Jr. PGA Tour. Even though I still have a long way to go, I have two wins and four top fives on the SCPGA Jr Tour and I have also qualified for the Toyota Tour Cup.

I am confident with my ball striking...I can hit my driver 300+ (average 290 yards), hit my 7-iron 190 yards, and my pitching wedge around 145 yards. Over the past year, I have lowered my handicap from a ten down to a three, I've turned my chipping from a weakness to a strength, and I am working hard to become a great putter.

I am just now figuring out what it really takes to step up my performance in multi-day tournaments against elite competition. While I do not yet have the ranking or results needed for D-1 golf, just like in my academics, I can assure you that I will work as hard as I possibly can to get myself in a position to follow my dreams of playing at the highest level.

I don't know what I want to major in, but I do know the commitment required to be a collegiate golfer.  My older brother, Josh, played D-3 golf, and I am looking for the right school and the right coach to help me realize my full potential.
