Brookhaven police presence around Lanier Drive

BROOKHAVEN, Ga. — The Chamblee Police Department was involved in a chase that ended in a crash in Brookhaven on Tuesday evening, police said. 

The department said that there was an armed robbery at Plaza Fiesta off Buford Highway. The two suspects took $1,000 and fled the scene of the crime. Their vehicle was then located through flock cameras, and officers started to pursue the suspects. 

According to the Brookhaven Police Department, the pursuit ended in a crash on Peachtree Road and Ashford Dunwoody Road. The driver of the vehicle then left the scene on foot. 

The Brookhaven Police Department is assisting the Chamblee Police Department with search efforts to locate the driver as the other suspect was taken into custody. 

At 5:29 p.m., Brookhaven Police posted on social media that there was a heavy Lanier Drive near Peachtree Road and Windsor Parkway. The department said to avoid the area.
