Free-agent linebacker Devin Bush has agreed to a one-year contract with the Cleveland Browns, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The news comes after Schefter reported Bush was visiting Cleveland on Thursday.

The 2019 first-round pick recorded just 37 tackles in 13 games in Seattle after signing a one-year contract.

After a promising rookie season, Bush saw his career undone by an ACL tear suffered during the 2020 season. The Michigan product returned to the lineup in 2021 but has not been able to find the same level of productivity.

Cleveland is seeking to replace Anthony Walker Jr., who left for the Miami Dolphins in free agency. The team already signed Jordan Hicks to serve as its starting middle linebacker, so adding Bush would be for depth purposes. It's unlikely Bush would be able to command much more than a veteran's minimum contract coming off his down season in Seattle, so he could wind up being a good buy-low candidate.

Bush doesn't turn 26 years old until July and still possesses high-level athleticism at the linebacker spot, even if he isn't quite at the same level he was coming out of Michigan.

Caleb Johnson and Mohamoud Diabate are the only other middle linebackers currently on the Browns roster.
