Bruce McNall is a former racehorse owner and American businessman. He owned the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. He was a movie producer in the 1980s and was involved in producing films like Weekend at Bernie’s and The Manhattan Project. McNall purchased a 25% stake in the L.A. Kings in 1986 and became the largest shareholder by buying 24% more in 1987. He was elected chair of the NHL Board of Governors in 1992.
McNall bought the Toronto Argonauts in 1991 with Wayne Gretzky and John Candy. He owned Thoroughbred racing horses and won races in the 1980s and 1990s. McNall had to sell the Kings in 1993 due to defaulting on a $90 million loan. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy and fraud and was sentenced to 70 months in prison. McNall’s net worth is estimated to be $3 million.
McNall wrote an autobiography titled Fun While It Lasted: My Rise and Fall in the Land of Fame and Fortune, which was published in 2003.
