Carlos Correa Suffers Thumb Injury vs. Braves, X-Rays Negative | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors

Jason Collette of Rotowire and ESPN said "Correa appears to have jammed something on his left hand. He's left the game after sliding into home head first."

Correa has emerged as the superstar Houston was hoping he would be after being drafted first overall in 2012. He was named American League Rookie of the Year in 2015, has hit at least 20 homers in each of his first two seasons and has a career-best .319/.394/.554 slash line this season.

Durability hasn't been a problem for Correa in his MLB career. The 22-year-old missed a combined total of 13 games from 2015-16.

The Astros have built one of the best and deepest lineups in the American League this season, which has helped them run away with the AL West thanks to a 56-27mark. Correa is a centerpiece in the lineup, so his absence does leave a large void that manager A.J. Hinch has to fix.

With Correa out, third baseman Alex Bregman could move over to shortstop. The Astros also have Marwin Gonzalez, who is capable of playing at shortstop or third base.
