Personal Statement

My ambition for golf is to play at the  highest level as a pro.

I started golfing when I was nine years old. When I was thirteen I decided to take it more serious.

The organization that helped me expand my golfing first starting out was The First Tee. They didn’t just teach me how to become a better golf, but also a person as a whole. The organization focuses on our nine Core Values and life skills.

My greatest golf moment was when I made an eagle on number eighteen at Poppy Hills in the Pure Insurance championship. I knew there would be tv cameras on that hole so I had to make something special happen. I think that was also a big part of it, because I knew it was going to be on tv so I add a little extra pressure. The pressure is what I perform better under. It was also nice to get a fist pump from Bernhard Langer after I made the putt.

The greatest lesson in golf that I have learned was perseverance. Going back to my tournament round at Great Bay roughly three years ago. I had shot my worst score on the front nine. I was so upset, I couldn't think and it caused me to make terrible swings that increased my score. On hole ten, I just told myself, ok Christina this is a new nine. I don't care what happens with my tee shot, doesn't matter you’re still going to get a par. I don't care how you do it, but it's going to get done. That day, I was hitting massive hooks that ended up in the trees and the deep rough. I only hit 4 fairways on the back nine. I had a lot of punch shots, some that I was able to finesse onto the green, and a bunch of up and downs. I finished with a 36, +1, for that nine with all pars and one bogey. No matter how bad I'm doing if I just focus on my goal and nothing else I will be able to get it done. If I ended up making a one over par round for nine holes when I had an uncontrollable hook that left me deep in the trees on almost every hole, or way left in thick rough not getting on the green and going up and down, with great concentration and focus I should be able to do anything I have my mind set on, no matter what circumstances.
