Born in Athens, Georgia on December 21, 1969, Smith earned a full ride scholarship to the University of Tennessee, where he played in two bowl games. He was eventually drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the 1992 draft and played for the team for eight seasons before moving to the Carolina Panthers.
Smith and his Falcons teammates made it to the Super Bowl in 1998, but lost to the Denver Broncos. Smith is married to personal trainer and reality TV personality Mynique Smith and they have three children together. Outside of football, Smith has worked as a radio DJ and a football coach.
