MIAMI BEACH, Florida (CNN) -- The houseboat where the body of suspected murderer Andrew Cunanan was found last summer sank Monday, the apparent result of poor maintenance, Miami Beach police said.

The two-story houseboat was partially submerged Monday in the Intracoastal Waterway that runs alongside Miami Beach's Collins Avenue. Police said no foul play is suspected.

The body of Cunanan, who police say shot and killed Italian fashion designer Gianni Versace and was a suspect in the murder of four other men, was found in the houseboat July 24 after apparently committing suicide.

Police believe Cunanan had been hiding on the boat and killed himself after being discovered.

Fernando Carreira, the caretaker who collected $45,000 in reward money after his report led police to the houseboat, was at the scene again Monday as salvage workers tried to refloat it. He said he had contacted owner Frank Matthias Ruehl in Germany to advise him of the sinking.

In the months since Cunanan's death, the houseboat has been a movie set and an obligatory stop for sightseers.
