Personal Statement

I am a senior (Class of 2020) at Westlake High School in Austin, Texas.  I recently completed my second year on my school's varsity team.  This year, our team had the best regular season in school history.  We finished with an overall 33-2 record.  We went 16-0 in district and reached the second round of the playoffs.  At various points in the season we were ranked as as high as #22 in the country.  Although I came off the bench, I was the second leading scorer on the team and earned three All Tournament team awards.  I was named Honorable Mention All District this year and was proud to have been selected as the Sixth Man of the Year by my teammates.  I also earned Academic All-District and Academic All-State my senior year.

In my sophomore year, I led the JV team in field goals made, shooting percentage, total points, offensive rebounds, and steals, and I was second in assists, three-point percentage, defensive rebounds, and blocks.  

Basketball is my passion.  I have been playing competitively since I was in fifth grade.  I get as much pleasure out of chase down block as I do from a well-executed offensive play.  In addition to sports, I am a motivated student with good grades.  I have traveled internationally to work on my Spanish language skills.  I hope to take my drive and love for the game to a great college that fits both my athletic and academic interests.
