The Philadelphia Eagles have "been making calls about potentially moving up" from the No. 22 pick in Thursday's NFL draft, according to ESPN's Dan Graziano.
"People I've talked to believe the Eagles want to try to move up for a receiver, though one theory I found very interesting and potentially hilarious is that they could move up for tight end Brock Bowers, given their recent predilection for Georgia players," Graziano wrote.
Bowers, a three-year starter described by B/R NFL scout Derrick Klassen as a "rare YAC threat," is currently projected as the No. 10 pick in the latest B/R mock draft.
The Eagles had six former Georgia players on the roster season, marking the highest concentration of Bulldogs in the NFL.
Those players included five picks from the last two drafts, including defensive tackles Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis, linebackers Nakobe Dean and Nolan Smith and cornerback Kelee Ringo. Davis, Carter and Smith were all first-round picks.
The Eagles also traded with the Detroit Lions last spring for former Georgia running back D'Andre Swift, who racked up a career-high 1,049 rushing yards in 2023.
"I know the Georgia jokes are coming and maybe already are,'' Philadelphia general manager Howie Roseman told reporters after selecting three former Bulldogs in the 2023 draft. "But for us, it's about the individual players. If we're going to bypass a player just because we had taken another player from that school, I mean, that would be silly too.
"We took the players we took based on their grades. Obviously, it's a great tribute to coach [Kirby] Smart and his staff about the kind of players and people they develop.''
The Eagles could alternatively pursue a receiver in order to provide a top target for Jalen Hurts. At least three wideouts, including Ohio State's Marvin Harrison Jr., Washington's Rome Odunze and LSU's Malik Nabers, are currently projected to go within the top 10 on Thursday.
