Stolhanske was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in August 1968. He graduated from Colgate University and met his fellow members of Broken Lizard there. In 1996, the group made the self-funded short film Puddle Cruiser, which was accepted at the Sundance Film Festival the following year. Super Troopers, which was self-funded in 2001, went on to earn $23.5 million on an original budget of $1.5 million.

Stolhanske, who was born without a fibula, has a prosthetic leg. He first appeared in the 1996 film Puddle Cruiser. He starred as Robert “Rabbit” Roto in Super Troopers (2001) and also served as an electrician on the set. Stolhanske has also starred in The Sweetest Thing (2002), Club Dread (2004), The Dukes of Hazzard (2005), Beerfest (2006), and The Slammin’ Salmon (2009). He has been a writer for several films and a producer for two.

Stolhanske will reprise his role as Robert “Rabbit” Roto in the upcoming Super Troopers 2. He was featured in the original P90X workout series.
