After weeks of Gerry Turner deciding who he’d spend the rest of his life with, ABC’s first-ever series of The Golden Bachelor wrapped up on November 30. Since then, a satirical article and video accompanying social media posts have been circulating in regard to all “22 of the Golden Bachelor contestants being pregnant.”

Of all the 22 ladies vying after widower Gerry’s heart, it was Theresa Nist who he ended up with in series 1. Theresa and Gerry are likely enjoying their new romance together. But, as the season comes to an end, bizarre rumors are circulating about Theresa, Faith, Joan, Leslie, and the rest of the ABC show ladies.

’22 Golden Bachelor contestants pregnant’ joke runs wild

On November 30, an article was published by satirical website, The Onion.

The Onion writes in its Instagram bio: “America’s Finest News Source.”

The article, titled “22 ‘Golden Bachelor’ Contestants Announce Pregnancies,” jokes that one of the show’s cast members named Susan Noles “confirmed that all of the ladies are pregnant.”

The satirical post reads: “…the 22 geriatric women, all between the ages of 60 and 75, couldn’t wait to give birth to the 72-year-old widower’s babies in April.”

The false news was also shared on Instagram which had some fans confused.

On The Onion’s ‘About’ page, it writes in response to the question “What if I want to sue The Onion?”:

“Please do not do that. The First Amendment protects satire as a form of free speech and expression. The Onion uses invented names in all of its stories, except in cases where public figures are being satirized. Any other use of real names is accidental and coincidental. The Onion is not intended for readers under 18 years of age.”

Gerry Turner has two kids

Despite any rumors swirling around in regard to Gerry fathering more fictitious kids, he does have two daughters of his own in real life.

Gerry is a father to Jenny Young and Angie Warner.

He’s also a grandfather to Jenny’s two daughters, Charlee and Payton Young.

Golden Bachelor fans almost fell for it

After The Onion’s satirical article did its rounds on the internet, many Golden Bachelor fans admitted that they almost fell for the fake story.

One person tweeted: “Ya got me…even worse than ol’ Gerry did!”

Another wrote on the story’s Instagram post: “This is fake right?”

More commented: “This is kinda mean.”

Another said: “I did not check the account for a minute and was so confused.”

Some also joked: “Those are some Nick Cannon numbers.”

And others said that the article was “the only good thing that came out of #GoldenBachelor finale.”
