“Holy Water” by Brett Eldredge

To begin with, it must be stated that Brett Eldredge’s “Holy Water” is a love song. And the song’s main motif is centered around the vocalist proclaiming that the addressee, his romantic interest, is indeed his “holy water”.

Such an assertion is of course a metaphor. And what it points to, most simply put, is the vocalist’s relationship with the addressee having a profound effect on the former’s life. Or as put forth in the bridge, prior to this romance, Brett was caught up in a state of loneliness and perpetual romantic disappointments. 

In fact he was in such a messed up state that he didn’t even realize the remedy was true love, not until actually hooking up with the addressee. So basically, he is comparing her impact on his life to a spiritual epiphany or what have you. Or put alternatively, he considers being with her as fulfillment in a completely holistic sort of way.

Brett Elderdge and “Holy Water”

Brett Eldredge is a country music singer who is actually from Illinois, a state not particularly known for producing musicians belonging to said genre. His first five studio albums, which were released between 2013 and 2020, all performed exceptionally well on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.

Brett also came out with an LP earlier in October of 2021 entitled “Mr. Christmas”. Meanwhile, Warner Music Nashville surprisingly made “Holy Water” public shortly thereafter, on the date of 24 December 2021. And according to Eldredge this track is the lead single from his 2022 album.
