“I Love You So” is centered on a vocalist who has finally decided that he can no longer tolerate his lover’s “selfish ways”, i.e. her tendency to cheat and only appreciate him when she’s going through an episode of depression. And with her being the addressee, as indicated by the title he still ‘loves her so’.

');var c=function(){cf.showAsyncAd(opts)};if(typeof window.cf !== 'undefined')c();else{cf_async=!0;var r=document.createElement("script"),s=document.getElementsByTagName("script")[0];r.async=!0;r.src="//";r.readyState?r.onreadystatechange=function(){if("loaded"==r.readyState||"complete"==r.readyState)r.onreadystatechange=null,c()}:r.onload=c;s.parentNode.insertBefore(r,s)}; })();

So in a way, even though he has been ‘foolish’ enough to endure her ‘cruelty’ for so long, the vocalist’s decision to leave extends beyond an unwillingness to play the cuck any longer. Instead the further implication is that, even if the addressee is unfaithful, she also has feelings for the vocalist. So he is hoping to teach her a lesson the hard way, as in maybe she will finally appreciate him once he’s gone.

And considering that, even amidst making the decision, the singer admittedly remains in love, he is entreating his toxic honeybun to let him go in peace.

The Walters, "I Love You So" Lyrics

The Walters

The Walters are a band of musicians from Chicago who aren’t actually related (though one of the bandmates’ name is “Walter”). The crew consists of the following:

  • vocalist Luke Olsen
  • bassist Danny Wells
  • drummer Charlie Ekhaus
  • guitarist Walter Kosner
  • guitarist MJ Tirabassi

To date they’ve released one studio album, a 2014 project entitled “Songs for Dads”. In fact as of the writing of this post, the most recent single The Walters have dropped dates back to a 2017 outing entitled “She’s Gonna Leave You”. And to note, 2017 was also the year the group disbanded, seemingly due to stress-related issues.

So with that in mind, it can currently be said The Walters are akin to a one-hit wonder. And why? This because “I Love You So”, their debut single, is the only song they put out which, by the looks of things, has charted and been certified.

Success of “I Love You So”

“I Love You” was actually an impressive hit. It charted in nearly a dozen nations and made it onto the top 10 of the US Hot Rock & Alternative Songs list in the process. Additionally, the RIAA certified this track platinum in early 2022.

“I Love You So” was able to achieve the aforementioned feats and accolade after nearly a decade due to it achieving TikTok virality in late 2021.

The song’s sudden success, prompted The Walters to get back together, with the group even being signed by Warner Records.
