Jill Scott is the latest singing sensation to have a rumored s*x tape floating around the Internet.
A Twitter user claimed there was a leaked tape of Scott available online, sending fans into a frantic tailspin.
Many fans began to hunt for the X-rated footage online, and users across Twitter participated in the influx of racy jokes and memes, fuelling drama.
Scott’s alleged s*x tape comes after the news of rapper Saucy Santana having been involved in a video where he was with another man.
The hip-hop singer denied the rumors in an Instagram live.
The buzz around celebrity s*x tapes has only increased since the recent Hitman Holla scandal, as well as a potential video of Youtuber Tana Mongeau and Too Hot To Handlestar Harry Jowsey.
Scott has yet to address the rumor, but fans have already begun digging for potential footage. One user wrote:
“What did Jill Scott? my prayers have been answered.”
In a 24-hour-timespan, ‘Jill Scott s*x tape’ has become one of the most prominent searches on multiple p*rn sites.
It was quickly revealed the news was a hoax, leaving a number of users strangely disappointed.
Who Is Jill Scott?
Scott began her career as a spoken word artist, making appearances at live poetry readings across the United States.
Her lyrical style was noticed by The Roots’ Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, who invited her to co-write the song ‘You Got Me.’
In 2000, the song won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Song, and Scott debuted as a singer at The Roots’ live show.
She broadened her performing career in the Canadian tour of the musical Rent.
Scott became the first artist to sign with Steve McKeever’s ‘Hidden Beach Recordings’ label, making her debut in 2000 with the release of Who Is Jill Scott?: Words and Sounds Vol. 1.
She earned her first solo Grammy nomination in 2003, being nominated for Best Female Vocal Performance.
Scott won her first Grammy two years later, with her song ‘Cross My Mind’ winning for Best Urban/Alternative R&B Performance.
Her third studio album, The Real Thing, was her most ambitious music release to date.
It was described by NPR as “a murmured, whispered piece of work that at first [that the writer] took for a retreat.”
Her relationship with the record label soured in 2010 when Hidden Beach Records sued her for exiting halfway through her six-album contract.
McKeever claimed that he was the reason for Scott’s successful career launch and that he had developed her into a Grammy winner.
Scott countersued the label owner’s claim that he had been unceremoniously dumped after ten years.
Jill Scott’s Acting Career
Scott decided to take her friend Ozzie Jones’ advice and explore her abilities as an actress in 2000.
She partook in a fellowship at a Philadelphia theatre company, making her debut in Tyler Perry’s Neighbors from Hell.
Hoping to expand her range, she worked menial jobs to pay for acting lessons.
Her first television credit was in a few episodes of Girlfriends, where she played Donna, the love interest to Reggie Hayes’ William Dent.
Scott made her first feature film appearance in 2007, statting in Hounddog as Big Mama Thronton.
Her first leading role was as Precious Ramotswe in the Anthony Minghella adaptation of The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency, based on the book series by Alexander McCall Smith.
Scott even filmed additional episodes for the series in 2008 in a production jointly funded by HBO and the BBC.
It aired as a seven-part series of BB1 in March 2009 and was released via HBO in the United States on March 29 that year.
In recent years Scott has had a recurring role since 2018 on the CW adaptation of the Black Lightning comics, starring as the villainous Lady Eve, the big boss of a criminal empire and antagonist of the series.
A year later, she joined the cast of First Wive’s Club, a television reboot of the 1996 film centered around three divorced women who have a shared past.
Her co-stars are Ryan Michelle Bathe and Michelle Buteau, and the show is available to stream on BET Plus. It has since been renewed for a second season.
About Jill Scott’s Romantic Relationships
Although the s*x tape turned out to be false information, fans were extremely curious to see who Scott was allegedly involved within the fabricated footage.
In 2017, the R&B powerhouse filed for divorce from husband number 3, Mike Dobson, after 15 years of marriage. Fans are unsure about who her current beau is, and Scott has spilled no details on social media.
Scott’s first marriage was to long-term boyfriend – graphic artist and DJ – Lyzel Williams.
The pair married in a private ceremony in Hawaii in 2001, having been dating for seven years.
Williams was the direct inspiration for Scott’s song ‘He Loves Me (Lyzel in E Flat).’
The couple got divorced in 2007, only making it to six years of marriage.
Her second significant relationship was her marriage to her drummer, Li’l John Roberts.
The couple revealed they were engaged during a 2008 concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City, where they shared a kiss on stage.
Scott gave birth to their son, Jett Hamilton Roberts, in April 2009,
She announced they had broken up two months later but hoped to co-parent their son happily.
She told Essence:
“We definitely love our son and we are co-parenting and working on being friends. It is what it is. I have a lot of support, so I want for nothing as far as that’s concerned.”
Her appearance had always been a hot topic in the press, particularly after losing a significant amount of weight after giving birth.
Of her short hair and bright clothing, Scott said:
“This is the simplest form of myself,” adding that she loves experimenting with new colors, styles, and shapes. “For me, hair is an accouterment. Hair is jewelry. It’s an accessory. Tomorrow, I may want a wig down to my butt, and I’m gonna rock it, and the next day, I may want a big Afro, and I’m gonna rock that too.”
