Personal Statement

I enjoy the game of basketball because it is a competitive game that brings out the best of players. Playing the game helps me not only bring out the competitiveness of myself but also my teammates. I always look forward to be part of team where I can not only utilize my skills but also use the skills of my teammates to win a game.  I like the competition from other players and teams because it helps me identify the weaknesses of myself so I can work on improving my game. 

As a guard I use the strengths of my team on the court to score points. I use my basketball IQ and court vision to make plays that take advantage of the weaknesses of the team we are playing against. Although I love to score points, I do find it equally satisfying to use my team to find them in the best position to score baskets. 

Besides offense, one of my greatest strengths is on defense. I learned from my coaches that defense wins games so I pride myself in being the best defensive player on the team, I am aggressive and can read the offensive player to be able to force a turnover or steal the ball. My AAU and high coaches tell me when they need a defensive stop they can always count on me to make that happen.
