Jane Fonda‘s kids have always stayed in the limelight, the credit for which goes to their amazingly successful mother.
The esteemed actress and activist is the mother of three children, two of whom are her biological kids, while the third is her most beloved yet adopted child.
Fonda’s brilliant Hollywood career began almost 60 years ago. She bagged many titles, awards, and accolades for her outstanding acting skills throughout her career.
Besides acting, Jane is a highly vocal activist. Recently, the actor/activist landed herself in the middle of a controversy.
During an appearance on “The View” Friday, Fonda was asked what ways, besides protests and marching, pro-abortion activists could take action. Fonda responded, “Murder.”
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna reported Jane Fonda to Capitol Police “for threatening public officials” after the actress suggested the “murder” of pro-life activists as a solution to shove the pro-choice agenda.
The claimant said the charges should be brought against Fonda as calls for violence and open intimidation should never be accepted or encouraged.
A few days after making the infamous remark regarding anti-abortion laws, Fonda clarified her stance and said the comment was made in jest.
In a statement shared with Fox News, Fonda clarified that the comment was a joke. “My body language and tone made it clear to those in the room – and to anyone watching – that I was using hyperbole to make a point,” said the legendary actress.
Contrary to popular belief, Fonda has many regrets regarding her parenting style and the upbringing of her children.
“I regret that I wasn’t a better parent,” she told Brie Larson in their interview. “I didn’t know how to do it.”
She also admitted that she is still learning how to become an ideal parent to her kids and is actively trying to make up for the lost time.
Exploring the lives of Jane Fonda’s kids
Jane got married twice during her whole life. She has one child from each marriage and adopted her third child with her second husband.
The legendary actress welcomed her first child, a daughter named Vanessa Vadim, with her first husband, Roger Vadim, in September 1968.
Although the pair’s marriage only lasted from 1965 to 1973, Jane was lucky to find love again with her second husband, Tom Hayden.
Vanessa is a cinematographer and director; some of her work has earned quite a lot of fame.
Jane’s second child and her only son Troy was born on July 7, 1973, in Los Angeles, California.
In Troy’s case, the apple did not fall far from the tree as he’s an actor who was nominated for a Golden Globe award for his role as Barry Winchell in the television movie ‘Soldier’s Girl.’
Last but not least, Jane’s third child, Mary Luana Williams, was born in October 1967. In 2003, she released a memoir called The Lost Daughter which talked about her life growing up.
Mary was adopted by Jane and Tom before their divorce when she was 14 years old. She was the daughter of two members of the Black Panther Party, and she grew up in a poverty-stricken household.
Regarding Mary’s importance, Jane said at the time of Mary’s adoption, the actress already had two biological children, but she did not feel complete until she adopted her second daughter.
Mary has followed in her mother’s footsteps and currently works as a social activist.
