Jerome Dewey Caldwell Sr. was born on July 26, 1960 in Brooklyn, New York. He was affectionately known as “Uncle Jerome” to many. He was a Norview High School Graduate who excelled at football. He was the first Norview football player to start as a freshman. In his junior year he was part of the All Tidewater football team. He also participated in several other sports.
Jerome was employed at Hermes Abrasives for 10 years. He also worked at Booker T. Washington High School as a security guard for several years. He was a youth coach for basketball, football and Little League Baseball. He had a passion for auto mechanics and was self taught.
Jerome had a big heart and charismatic personality. He would give you the shirt off his back. He was known as “Uncle Jerome” to all who knew him. He enjoyed laughing and a good joke. He would gather all the kids and take them bowling, fishing, miniature golf and so much more.
Jerome was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Caldwell. He leaves to cherish his memory two sons Jerome Dewey Caldwell Jr. and Kyle D. Caldwell; mother Lillian Ford; step father Charles Ford; five brothers Alfred Perry, Alfred Caldwell, Gerald Caldwell, Gerard Caldwell and Quincy Delaigle; two sisters Lisa Caldwell and Kalisha Welch; four grandchildren, Jerome Dewey Caldwell III, Kennedie Noelle Caldwell, Sienna Reese Beckles and Majour Jerome Caldwell, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
