The Case Of Josh Guimond’s Disappearance

Josh Guimond, then 20 years old, attended a poker party at a fellow student’s residence at St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota, on November 9, 2002. 

He left after around 30 minutes, purportedly to return to his flat.

Nick called Josh’s ex-girlfriend Katie, who also hadn’t seen or heard from him after Josh skipped a mock trial meeting.

Josh’s mother reported him missing on Sunday night. Josh’s car was still parked in the same spot, his glasses and contact case were still in the same place, and there was no suicide note or evidence of a struggle when police searched his apartment. 

Police dogs were used to help in the search for Josh, as it was being done all over campus, but he was nowhere to be found.

The Theories Regarding His Disappearance

There are several explanations for Josh Guimond’s disappearance.

The first is that he perished on the university campus’ Stumpf Lake.

Despite searches, his body has never been discovered in the lake.

Another theory is that Josh was kidnapped because there were so many other kidnappings of young college guys in the months before Josh vanished.

Josh Guimond left a small party on November 9, 2002, without saying a word, and he was never heard from again. His family is still in the dark 20 years later.

The episode “What Happened to Josh?” from Unsolved Mysteries Volume 3 revisits the case and offers several possibilities to shed light on Josh Guimond’s disappearance. 

According to the most recent scenario presented on Unsolved Mysteries, Josh was communicating with men online via numerous chatrooms and dating forums and may have even visited one of them, as revealed by police after they gained access to his messages on his Yahoo personal account.

Josh Newville claims that earlier this year, between the hours of 11:52 p.m and 12:32 a.m on the night of his disappearance, music was heard playing on Josh’s computer. 

Numerous tracks were skipped, indicating that someone was physically playing the music on his computer.

Josh may have been exploring his sexuality honestly, or he may have been playing a college joke by pretending to be a woman, according to the evidence presented in Unsolved Mysteries. 

Investigators believe Josh may have been murdered by one of the individuals he communicated with online in either scenario.

Stearns County Sheriff’s Office detectives have just made public images of 28 unidentified men they would like to speak to in relation to the case after looking into his computer.
