Personal Statement

Hello, please allow me to introduce myself; my name is Joshua James Mora, at core a wrestler. I am currently the Texas State Champion at 132#. My goals are to wrestle in college, become a national champion while pursuing my degree in political science or pre law. I’ve been wrestling since I was 3 years old and I truly love this sport. I love the chess match that goes on within each match, I love the sportsmanship, I love the feel and smell of the mats but most of all I love the challenge. I am extremely easy to coach and open to new and different techniques. In my youth wrestling I won 9 straight Texas State Titles and won many top tournaments such as, Ohio Tournament of Champions, Rocky Mountain Nationals, Junior Olympic Championships, Cotton Bowl and more. I also beat many top wrestlers during that span to include Jack Bass(VA), Zac Genzler(KS), Jacob Smith(IN), Dylan Lucas(FL ), Emilio Martinez(CO), Hayden Tuma(ID), and Alfred Bannister(MD) to name a few. Unfortunately, I have not done much traveling after entering High School but have wrestled and beat at the Texas State Tournaments such Texas wrestling stars as Dylan Akers(Flower Mound) a Fargo National Champion and currently ranked #1 at 126#, Damien Heard (Fossil Ridge) currently ranked #1 at 120#, AJ Hinkle (Allen) ranked #1 at 145# (I beat him 7-0 at 132# at last year’s State Tournament) and Sean Ambrocio (Concordia) ranked #7 in Div 3 at 125 in WIN Magazine(Nov ’12 edition). I have had two of the best wrestling partners a guy could ask for in my youth and high school career. Nick Herrmann (wrestling for Virginia Hoos) and Braun Marquez (wrestling for Northern Illinois) both freshmen this year. If you’re looking for a wrestler who’s 1000% committed to succeeding in this sport at the next level and whose full potential has not yet been reached then I am the student/athlete you’re looking for. Thank you for taking the time to view my profile. Josh Mora
