One thing is certain after New York Fashion Week: Slingback heels are cementing their place in the fashion scene, and they've already been spotted on celebrities like Katie Holmes, Julia Roberts, and Hailey Bieber. In fact, with all the buzz, I couldn’t resist placing an order (or, rather, six!) myself. Not only do slingbacks exude style and effortlessly complement nearly every outfit, but depending on the pair you choose, they can also offer unparalleled comfort — so, bid adieu to painful straps digging into your heels.
Before you say anything, yes, I know it might still be a bit too chilly outside for slingbacks. But, spring — and warmer weather — is on the horizon, and I promise you’re about to see them everywhere, which means it’s best to stock up while you can. The good thing, though? You don’t really have to waist until spring to wear these babies; it’s all about layering. Pair them with sheer black tights like Holmes did or a cute pair of socks — whether lace, socks with bows, you name it, any option works — for a comfortable, stylish take on the footwear.
There are so many slingbacks out there, but I’m particularly keen on these Reformation pumps spotted on Camila Mendes. With a modest heel, they’re practical for city dwellers who need to walk around in their chosen footwear. What’s more, they’re available in white, black, and red — the latter of which is my personal favorite for staying on trend this season, given red’s popularity in the sartorial world. The upper is crafted from high-quality calf leather with adorable bow detailing (another trend that’s been blowing up!), so there’s no need to worry about them wearing out quickly or looking cheap.

What I love the most about slingbacks, particularly slingback pumps, is their ability to instantly elevate a casual ensemble. When paired with jeans, they transform a look from “I just rolled out of bed 15 minutes ago” to one that looks like you actually put in some effort — even though all it took was mere seconds to slip into those slingbacks.
Another plus of slingbacks is that they stay securely on your feet because of that back strap. You can comfortably stroll in them for extended periods without the annoyance of your feet slipping out (like what tends to happen with mules) and making unwanted contact with the floor. No thank you!
Slingbacks aren’t limited to just heels, either. You can opt for a good pair of slingback flats; in fact, if you’ve spent any time on the internet, you’ll know that these Ganni buckled ballerinas are the shoes for it girls. However, because of their high price tag, they may have felt out of reach, but you can find a similar pair from Steve Madden (so many fashion editors own these!)
So, whether you want a slingback heel or a flat, you’ll have no problem finding a pair that works for you. There are ample options — and I promise come springtime, you’re going to see everyone in the practical yet subtly sexy shoe. Get ahead, and shop the selection below.
