Personal Statement

Field hockey has really made me who I am, every day when I go to practice I learn something new about myself. I have discovered who I am through field hockey. I started field hockey in first grade. My mom was a field hockey player so we would always play around at home even before I was on a team. When I was little I would go to my sisters practices and I would always want to join in. Once I started on my own team I was so excited. I never really knew how important field hockey was to me until I started indoor. That was when I realized just how special field hockey was to me, and that I could do something with it in my future. Through playing field hockey I have learned so much about myself. I have learned that I am a perfectionist and hard on myself, but that I am strong and can overcome my fears. The only time I truly feel like myself is when I am playing field hockey with my awesome teammates. I am very hard on myself, so that was a big struggle for me to try and get out of my shell and play with no strings attached. Field hockey has really helped me to be fearless because whenever I am scared to do something I think about all I have done with field hockey and then I am not so scared. Although I am still working on getting out of my shell and being fearless, field hockey has helped me grow so much more than anything else. 

My academic goals for high school are to maintain an a and b average and to take at least a couple AP classes. My academic goals for college are to go to school to become a teacher,  and graduate with a teaching degree. I love kids and I love helping kids to better understand things, so I believe that a teacher is the right job for me. One of the most important things for me on a team is teamwork. Without it, there is not team. I am very team oriented, and have good sportsmanship. Every team needs someone who is there to keep them together. That is who I am, and one of the most important characteristics of me.
