Lavenia M. Mathews-Holmes, daughter of Albert Mathews Jr. and Lavern Mathews, was born on April 17, 1979, in Baltimore, Maryland. She was called to her peaceful heavenly home on December 13, 2021. Lavenia “Vee” received her early education in Baltimore City Public Schools up to the age of eleven before moving to Virginia. She continued her education at Deep Creek Middle and graduated from Deep Creek High School in 1997 as a Licensed Cosmetologist. She was later employed at Dollar Tree Corporation as a Pricing Specialist for Family Dollar. While employed at Dollar Tree she also received her Bachelors in Business from Saint Leo’s University on December 9th 2019.
Lavenia was blessed with three children – the joys of her life – Kechan Hunt (September 25th, 1996), Makaila Timmons (February 5th, 2001) and Sampson Mathews (2010). She later met and married Altonio Holmes on August 24th 2019 and they were the loves of each other’s lives. Vee loved to spend time with her family and close friends and was always the life of the party. In her early age she enjoyed double dutching and swimming. Anybody that knew Vee knows she had a major sweet tooth for candy and snacks. She also enjoyed shopping, dancing, clubbing, and drinking her wine.
Lavenia leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Altonio Holmes, three children, son, Kechan Hunt, daughter, Makaila Timmons, and fur baby, Sampson Mathews, her parents, Albert Mathews Jr. (Phyllis) and Lavern Mathews, and two sisters, Janel Hassell (Bryan) and Nakisha White (Anttwan). Also remaining to honor her memory are three nephews, Albert Mathews III, Kevin Mabrey Jr., and Jeremiah White and one niece, Kennadee White, alongside a host of family and friends who will truly truly miss her.
