Marcia Strassman was an American actress and singer born in New York City in April 1948. She succeeded Liza Minnelli in the off-Broadway musical Best Foot Forward at the age of 15. As a singer, her best-known song was her debut single “The Flower Children”, which reached the top 5 in Vancouver, British Columbia, San Diego, and San Francisco.
Strassman’s first acting role came in The Patty Duke Show from 1964 to 1965. She also starred as Nurse Maggie Cutler on the television series M*A*S*H from 1972 to 1973. One of her best-known roles was starring as Julie Kotter on the TV series Welcome Back, Kotter from 1975 to 1979.
Strassman was also a part of the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids franchise, starring as Diane Szalinksi in both Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and Honey, I Blew Up the Kid, for which she was nominated for a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Strassman was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007 and passed away on October 25, 2014, at the age of 66. At the time of her death, her net worth was estimated at $1.5 million.
