Personal Statement

I have been a competitor since I was 8 years old, starting my athletic journey as an in-line speed skater. In 2012, I won the U. S. National Championship in the two-boy relay with my twin brother Sean, as well as an individual gold medal in the 500 meter distance.  I placed 2nd overall in the United States for my age group. Two years later, my brother and I won another U.S. National Championship in the four-boy relay, setting a national record which stands today.  As an athlete I understand what it takes to get to the top.  As a lacrosse player, I bring the same level of tenacity and determination to the field that I brought to the rink.  While I'm fairly new to lacrosse, I have improved immensely since my freshman year.  As a sophomore, I earned MVP of the JV team, and periodically played on the varsity team.  In my junior year, I started at midfield, but was quickly moved to attack because of my playmaking and passing ability.  For the season, I scored 20 goals with 15 assists.  Our biggest victory of the season was beating our hometown rival 13-10, ending Maclay's 51-game district win streak in.  Our team then met Maclay in the District 2 championship, beating them again 11-7. This is the first since 2009 we won a district championship.  I scored two goals and assisted once.

The 2019 season will be a challenge. Due to graduation last year, we lost some critical players, including player of the year in our district.  I am confident that I can fill in the void left by Logan's departure.  He was an amazing athlete and tremendous leader.

Before the start of the season, I was honored to voted one of the three captains by my peers.  It's a tremendous responsibility, but I am confident that I can be an effective leader that they can count on.

I have attended and assortment of prospect days and camps throughout the region. I am constantly looking to improve my game and take it to the next level.

My interest in this sport came from my dad, who played both in high school and in college.  It is my dream to play at the college level as well.  At this point in my high school career, I continue to take AP and honors classes and play lacrosse whenever I can.  I am interested in engineering and computer programming and I want to attend a school where I can pursue a degree in these areas of study while continuing to engage in the sport that I love. I see myself only continuing to grow and improve and I am determined to make this season the most successful yet.  I am a proven athlete with a great work ethic and would be an asset to any team. I continue to work on my skill-sets and I'm currently working privately with coach to improve my stick work and shooting. I look forward to discussing your lacrosse program and what the college/university can offer academically.
