New PPP Chairman Invites Djan Faridz to Join Executive Board

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Newly elected United Development Party (PPP) chairman Romahurmuziy or Romy said that he would invite Djan Fraridz to join the PPP central executive board. Romy said that he would send the invitation in the near future to discuss the plan.

“It will be send soon today,” Romy said after closing the party’s national congress in Pondok Gede, East Jakarta, onSunday, April 10, 2016.

PPP’s national congress opening was attended by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and was closed by Vice President Jusuf “JK” Kalla. After a discussion with JK, Romy said that he would ask Djan Faridz to start with a clean slate in building the party. Romy had also contacted Djan to conduct reconciliation. Romy added that he would vacate a good position for Djan in the party’s executive board.

Romy revealed that he had contacted Djan to join a team drafting members of PPP executive board. However, Romy said that Djan was still considering the offer.

Earlier, Romy was elected as PPP chairman in the party’s 8^th National Congress by acclamation. Romy asserted that he would provide Djan with a position as an executive to avoid internal conflict. In addition to Djan, Romy would invite Suryadharma Ali’s wife Wardatul Asriah to join the executive board.

Romy promised that he would not remove PPP executives who opposed the national congress. He also pledged that he would not remove them as PPP members.

“We will reconcile and accommodate the interests in the future,” he said.
