The race to be the No. 2 quarterback in the 2024 NFL draft is no contest in the eyes of at least one assistant coach in the league.

There does seem to be a lack of consensus around who is the second-best quarterback in this year's class after Caleb Williams.

B/R's NFL scouting department is an outlier because it has had Maye ranked as the No. 1 quarterback and third-best player overall throughout the pre-draft process, with Williams a very close second and fourth-best player overall.

Daniels is a distant third at No. 31 overall, followed by McCarthy (No. 33).

B/R's Derrik Klassen compared Daniels' skill set to Robert Griffin III, while also calling him "far and away the best athlete in the class at the position."

In B/R's latest mock draft released on Wednesday, Daniels was projected to go to the New England Patriots with the third pick. It's important to note that mock was based on what the scouting staff would do, which doesn't necessarily line up with what teams are thinking about doing right now.

The Washington Commanders, who own the No. 2 pick, appear to be deciding between all three quarterbacks. They have visits with Daniels, Maye and McCarthy set up for next week.

If the assistant coach who spoke with Standig works for the Commanders, we know which quarterback he will vote for.

Based on where things stand two weeks away from the start of the draft, it wouldn't be a surprise if Daniels ends up being the pick for Washington.
