Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay appears to be a master recruiter in free agency.

A number of free agents and NFL agents have told The Athletic's Dianna Russini over the last several days that "the best recruiter over the phone is easily Sean McVay."

"Whatever he says, he leaves a strong impression," Russini added.

The Rams have been in the market for some upgrades this offseason after finishing the 2023 season with a 10-7 record and falling to the Detroit Lions 24-23 in the wild card round.

Through the opening week of free agency, the franchise has agreed to deals with left guard Jonah Jackson, tight end Colby Parkinson, cornerback Darious Williams, safety Kamren Curl and more recently quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

Garoppolo, who officially signed his one-year deal with the Rams on Tuesday, said a conversation he had with McVay convinced him to sign with Los Angeles over any of the other teams he was in discussions with, per The Athletic's Jourdan Rodrigue.

"Rams came in about midway through and I fell in love with the place," Garoppolo said. "They were straight to the point, very professional — which I appreciated — and there was no messing around. Excited to be here, it's gonna be fun."

Curl also expressed his excitement to suit up for McVay and recently told reporters that he's "ready to run through a brick wall" for the head coach in 2024:

"Really just his football mind. Just seeing stuff here and there, him talking about the game and explaining stuff. It's just like he lives football. That's what you want, a guy that's all about football. And the energy he brings on the sideline and just the way the players who play for him play. You can just tell we're ready to run through a brick wall for him, so that's the type of guys I want to play for."

The Rams still have a decent amount of cap space to make some more additions this offseason, too. According to Spotrac, L.A. has $20.5 million in cap space.

Given Aaron Donald's retirement, the Rams could still use an edge rusher and defensive lineman, in addition to a depth wide receiver to go alongside Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua.

With McVay seemingly receiving five stars for his recruitment, plugging those holes shouldn't be an issue.
