Renita Nicole Edwards – Metropolitan Funeral

Our beloved Mother, Wife, Daughter Renita Nicole Edwards known as “Nita “ was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 20, 2023. On May 28, 1986 a chubby beautiful baby girl was born to Sharon Edwards and the Late Keith Rivers in Norfolk, VA. She was the youngest of 3 children , She was married to Anthony Carter. She was educated in the Norfolk Public School System. Raised out Park place a community she took by storm and to the heart.

Nita was known for being a hard worker, she dedicated serial years to Sentara Hospital and to being a PCA. She always took care of people & loved doing it. She watched her mother Sharon Edwards be the mother of the community from Park place to Young terrance and as she came up she became the Auntie of the community every one loved. At just 36 years old, she still knew how to burn a skillet & make enough to feed a village. She was all about Family, loved and enjoyed having a good time, being a mother was always her first priority. Lets not forget a Mommas girl true indeed. In 2000 is when she mate the love her life Anthony Carter. You didn’t see her without him not far behind. She was always full of life, laughter, and joy never allowed anybody else to stop her shine. She gave the best advice and she had your back whenever it came down to it but always reassured you going to jail on your own but she’ll get the bond money. Her and Anthony shared 6 kids together plus 5 Step-children and raised them like they was her own. Anthony “Oldest” Carter 3rd, Antrell Carter, Antwan Carter, Asianay Carter, Anayjah Carter, Andr’e Carter, Anthony Carter Jr,Antonio Carter, Ashley Carter, Alicia Carter, Shanicia Carter and grandmother to 12 grand children and 1 God child Kee Christian. She was the youngest of 3 she had 2 big brothers the Late Derek Andr’e Edwards, Junius “Daedae” Edwards Wife Markeeta Edwards. 3 Half Brothers & 1 Half sister Precious Williams, Aaron Rivers, Keith Rivers Jr., Terrance Rivers. Parental Grandmother & Father the late Julia May Edwards and The late Junius Edwards. She had 6 in laws: Poochie Young (Late Renard Young), Stanley Christian (Roschel  Davis), Late Larry Christian Jr., Willie Carter (Sylvia Carter), & Her sister in law/best-friend Vernice “Nina” Cater & Niece April “Ap” Barrett they was three peas in a pot plus her childhood best friend Michelle “Mimi” King. 2 aunts Lori Edwards & Cynthia Edwards, 2 uncles Ronald Edwards & Craig Edwards. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, & friends.

Renita is predeceased by: her brother Derek Andr’e Edwards, Grandmother Julia May Edwards, and Grandfather Junius Edwards, Father Keith Rivers.

She is survived: Her Mother Sharon Edwards, husband Anthony Carter, 6 children Anthony Carter 3rd, Antrell Carter, Antwan Carter, Asianay Carter, Anayjah Carter, Andr’e Carter and brother Junius Edwards.

The family will like to give a special Thanks to Poochie Christian and Shauna Christian for coordinating the service. Quenella “Nu bang” Somerville,Terrance Kelly, and Vernice Carter for the helping hands and Terri Westray for catering. We are thankful for the support, for everyone that has came by the house, called, sent anything, and just for being there with us.
