Personal Statement

I remember when I was 10 years old, and my parents told me I was going to swim on the swim team at our local swim club for the summer. I really didn't want to, but by the end of the season, I knew swimming was for me. If it weren't for my parents, I would've never fallen in love with swimming. Now I am one of the top swimmers on my high school swim team. And let me tell you, it wasn't easy either. I have to work two times harder, out of the pool, than the rest of my classmates due to my Auditory Processing Deficiency. I carry that drive into swimming.

I feel that an achievable academic goal is to get a 3.5 GPA or higher by the time I graduate. A swimming goal I have completed is taking first place in the 500 free at NEAC's my junior year. Even though I was placed in lane one, I dropped 28 seconds and came out of nowhere to take first place. This was most likely the best feeling I have ever felt throughout my high school career of swimming. This is a feeling I plan on taking through my college career both in the pool and in the classroom.
