Oh no, Robert MacIntyre

Robert MacIntyre just lipped out a three, maybe four-footer on 14 to fall back to a tie with Wyndham Clark in their match.

It may not matter. It could also matter. These are the nervy moments of this Ryder Cup.

Schauffele beats Højgaard

Xander Schauffele adds another Team USA point.

He beats Nicolai Højgaard 3&2.

Team USA now down 14-10 to Europe.

Straka, Thomas match goes to 18

Justin Thomas had a chance to win the match.

He burned the edge with his attempt.

Sepp Straka and Justin Thomas go to 18, with Thomas 1-up and needing to win.

Jordan Spieth birdie

Jordan Spieth takes a 1-up lead on Shane Lowry after a birdie on 15.

Team USA needs all five matches to retain the Ryder Cup.

Sepp Straka!

A monster moment for Austrian Sepp Straka on 16, holing his second shot out from the fringe to half his deficit to Justin Thomas.

Thomas is clinging to a 1 up lead as the duo head to the par-3 17th.

Max Homa has validated his world ranking

Max Homa. Top American point scorer, and clearly the emotional heart of whatever minuscule chance the U.S. has at a comeback. It's somewhat unbelievable how Homa, 32, has changed his entire career the past two years. There were times this season where you wondered if it was just a nice run but he wasn't really "one of those guys." But it's official. He's one of the top 10 golfers in the world, and he will absolutely be in Bethpage in two years.

Max Homa beats Matt Fitzpatrick to keep American hopes alive

Another clutch point from Max Homa, the co-MVP of the American effort with Patrick Cantlay this week.

Homa, who played all five matches (the only American to do so), got up and down from an unplayable lie on the side of the 18th green to save par and beat Matt Fitzpatrick 1 up.

Homa earned points in his last three matches.

That has made it a 14-9 score right now. With five matches left on the board the Americans need all of them to go their way to win the Ryder Cup.

Brooks Koepka gets his singles win

The memory of his record-setting 9&7 defeat with Scottie Scheffler won't fade anytime soon but Brooks Koepka did just earn the Americans a full point, defeating Euro wunderkind Ludvig Aberg 3&2.

Koepka got up on the first hole and never let up with six birdies and zero bogeys in 16 holes.

Where will the winning putt come from?

Europe is but a half-point away from winning back the Ryder Cup, with all eyes on Matt Fitzpatrick.

He and Max Home are on No. 18 with Homa 1 up. If Fitzpatrick can win the hole that'd be enough.

But after that it may be a while. The four matches behind them are all in favor of the United States, leaving pressure on captain's picks Ludvig Aerg, Sepp Straka, Nicolai Hojgaard and Shane Lowry to flip one. If not them, then it's on Tommy Fleetwood and Robert MacIntyre, who are 11th and 12th in the lineup but both 2 up.

Rory McIlroy refutes report he met with Joe LaCava

Rory McIlroy said he has not met with Joe LaCava, Patrick Cantlay's caddie, contrary to a report earlier Sunday morning.

"He reached out last night but we haven't met," McIlroy said after his 3&1 win over Sam Burns. "I'd rather let this get over with first and then handle it afterwards."

LaCava lingered on the 18th green after Cantlay's birdie putt Saturday night, waving his hat in the direction of the crowd and everyone else. But McIlroy had a putt still to half the match and felt like LaCava was in his space as he tried to read the putt. Cameras then caught McIlroy screaming at caddy Jim "Bones" Mackay in the parking lot afterwards.

"I know Bones is close to Joe so I let him have a bit of my mind."

McIlroy said the whole situation how it played out Saturday night was "completely disrespectful" and "as angry as I've been in a long time." He actually said he was ready to go into the American team room over it but Shane Lowry stepped in to prevent that.

Tyrrell Hatton lets out a huge roar.

He beats Open champion Brian Harman 3-and-2.

Rory McIlroy defeated Sam Burns 3-and-1.

After a heated exchange with Joe LaCava and Jim "Bones" MacKay after Saturday's four-ball session, McIlroy responded with a win on Sunday.

Rory finishes this Ryder Cup 4-1, a career-high in match victories.

Rickie Fowler, Wyndham Clark still pushing

Wyndham Clark was 3 down to Robert MacIntyre after five holes, but has cut it to a 1-hole lead with his birdie on No. 10.

Tommy Fleetwood has not let Rickie Fowler in the door all day, but Fowler's birdie on the 11th has him also 1 down. As the Euros look for that 1 1/5 points they need these matches can prove pivotal.

How good was Patrick Cantlay?

All eyes on Patrick Cantlay the last two days, and how has this man responded?

In beating Justin Rose 2&1 Cantlay had six birdies and zero bogeys in 17 holes, needing three of them to stay ahead of Rose as the veteran mounted a late comeback over 12-15.

He's now 4-0 in singles matches between the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup. The partnership with Xander Schauffele did not come together this time around but he's been a rare American bright spot.

Justin Rose's hot putter

One of the stories at this Ryder Cup is Justin Rose's stellar putting.

He continues to make big putts, firing up the crowd.

Cantlay holds on to a 1-up lead with two holes to play.

Rahm knew how big his match was

Jon Rahm, speaking on the world feed, said that he was very aware of the significance of his match with Scottie Scheffler and earning the half-point. Said it's hard not to be with the amount of scoreboards on the course, but that one was actually in the direct eye line on the 18 green as he read his putt.

A frustrating season concludes for Scottie Scheffler

Scottie Scheffler likely still is the pound-for-pound best golfer in the world. He's that good. But it's been a rough year for his case to become the "top dog," for lack of a better term. He's been in the mix at every major. He started the Tour Championship with a lead. He had a late lead here on Jon Rahm.

And for whatever reason (some putting, some not), Scheffler has faded some in crunch time ever since that Players Championship blowout. You don't need to be worried about Scottie. He's still elite. But a frustrating season.

You could start to see the pathway to a shocking American victory, or at least a Ryder Cup in doubt until the very final moments.

But then just as he's done all week, Jon Rahm said "Nah" with a putt. His long lag putt to win the 18th hole against Scottie Scheffler halved the match, taking a half-point off the board that the Americans HAD to have.

As it stands right now Europe is up 12-6, needing just 2 1/2 more points to win the cup. Rory McIlroy is 3-up on Sam Burns through 14. Tyrrell Hatton is 2-up on Brian Harman through 12. Tommy Fleetwood and Robert MacIntyre are bringing up the rear and both are in the lead.

Are the Europeans getting to 20 points? No, but the only way for the Americans to win right now is:

  • Win all six matches they currently lead (5 of them 1 up)
  • Flip two matches currently in Europe's favor

That gets us to 14-14 and U.S. retains in the event of a tie. But is it likely? Not at all. The odds are totally in Europe's favor.
