Sheriff: Woman kidnapped, raped in Bartow County

BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. -- Authorities say a woman was kidnapped and raped after leaving a Dollar General store in Bartow County Thursday night.
BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. -- Authorities say a woman was kidnapped and raped after leaving a Dollar General store in Bartow County Thursday night.
The victim told deputies that she had stopped at the Dollar General on Highway 113 around 8:30 p.m. After she left the store and made her way to her home, a man surprised her from behind her seat and used her seat belt to strangle her. The man forced her to pull the vehicle over, and then he pulled her to the back seat and sexually assaulted her, authorities said.
The man then fled from the vehicle.
The woman suffered injuries to her neck and face. She was treated and released from Polk Medical Center. She described her attacker as a large built, dark tanned white male, middle aged with scruffy facial hair. He was wearing work boots. The woman reported that he smelled like he had not bathed and like he was a heavy cigarette smoker.
