Susana Morales missing case has come to an end after her remains were found in Gwinnett County.

Susana Morales went missing on the evening of July 26th, 2022. Remains found in Gwinnett county are suspected to be those of the missing 16-year-old Susana Morales.

Her family told the detectives that she had texted her mom that she was on her way home to Windscape Village Lane.

Further investigation revealed that an application on Morales’ cell phone showed that she was walking in that direction between 10:07 p.m. and 10:21 p.m. on the night of July 26th, 2022. Still, the detectives believed she had gotten into a vehicle at some point.

After further probing her phone records, the authorities discovered that between 10:21 p.m. and 10:26 p.m., she was in the area of Oak Loch Trace and Steve Reynolds Boulevard.

Her phone pinged that location until it either died or was turned off. After a month-long investigation, the police asked for the public’s help, adding that they had exhausted all leads.

Initially, the police thought that Susana Morales had run away. There was no indication that she was being held against her will; no signs of abduction or physical assault either, but they were still investigating her disappearance. Police did not believe she was in any specific danger.

She was last seen wearing light blue jeans, a yellow spaghetti-strapped shirt, and white crocs. Her family had started an online fundraiser to conduct an independent search effort.

On Monday, February 6th, 2023, human remains were found in Gwinnett-Barrow county. A bystander saw them in Dacula along Drowning Creek Road Monday night on Highway 316, according to police.

Even after the discovery of Susana’s remains, the police have still not made any announcement regarding her cause of death. They are not sure if any foul play is involved.

“It does look like she has been there for some period of time,” Jennifer Richter of the Gwinnett County Police told FOX 5.

An examination of the DNA showed a match between Morales’ dental records and the newly discovered human remains, said the Gwinnett Medical Examiners’ office.

Richter said police are still working with the medical examiners’ office to discover Morales’ cause of death and other details in the case.

“Right now, we’re really looking at this as a death investigation. We haven’t ruled out homicide,” Richter said.
