AUSTIN, Texas — Texas tight end Jahleel Billingsley is currently serving a six-game suspension that will keep him out until midseason, coach Steve Sarkisian said on Saturday.
Billingsley, a transfer from Alabama, received the suspension from the NCAA, Sarkisian said. The coach did not disclose the reason for the suspension except to clarify that it doesn’t stem from a legal issue.

“(It’s) not for anything that occurred here with us but at his previous stop,” Sarkisian said. “He’s in the process of that and he’s got five more games to go. We’ll get him back for Big 12 play.”
Texas coach Steve Sarkisian announced that previously suspended WR Agiye Hall is back with the team.
Also said Alabama transfer TE Jahleel Billingsley is serving a six-game suspension. Sark said it stems from something that occurred at his previous stop, not Texas.

Sarkisian announced the news following the Longhorns’ 52-10 win over Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday. Texas hosts Billingsley’s former team, the No. 1 Crimson Tide, on Sept. 10. Billingsley will be eligible to return to action on Oct. 15 when the Longhorns host Iowa State.
“Jahleel has been a great teammate,” Sarkisian said. “He’s working hard. I know the guys will be excited when we can get him back.”
Billingsley, a senior, had 17 catches for 256 yards and three touchdowns in 10 games for Alabama last year. He caught 37 passes for 559 yards and six scores in 20 career games with the Crimson Tide.
Texas has three sophomore tight ends on its depth chart, led by former five-star recruit Ja’Tavion Sanders, who started Saturday and caught a game-high six passes for 85 yards and a touchdown.
Sarkisian also announced Saturday that receiver Agiye Hall, another Alabama transfer, has returned to the team. Sarkisian suspended Hall on Aug. 12 following an arrest on a misdemeanor criminal mischief charge.
Hall, a sophomore and 2021 four-star recruit, caught four passes for 72 yards at Alabama last year, including two catches in the national title game.
“It’s great to have him back going with us and being part of our program,” Sarkisian said of Hall. “Proud of the work that he did to get himself back.”
