Tommy Lister, also known as Tommy “Tiny” Lister, was an American character actor and former wrestler with a net worth of $100 thousand at the time of his death in 2020. He was born on June 24, 1958 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and grew up in Compton, California. Despite being born blind in his right eye, he attended Palomar Junior College and later became the NCAA Division II National Shot Put Champion in 1982 at California State University, Los Angeles.
After a brief stint on a USFL football team, Lister focused on wrestling and acting. He rose to fame as Zeus in the Hulk Hogan film “No Holds Barred” in 1989 and went on to fight in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) from 1989 to 1990. He also appeared in other wrestling organizations such as World Championship Wrestling (WCW) between 1990 and 1996.
Lister became a cult icon in 1995 with his role as Deebo in the Ice Cube film “Friday” and later as the Galactic President in “The Fifth Element” in 1997. He also appeared in other films such as “The Dark Knight”, “Austin Powers in Goldmember” and “Little Nicky”.
In 2012, Lister pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit mortgage fraud with several others, resulting in $3.8 million dollars in losses for several lenders.
Tommy Lister was an evangelical born-again Christian and married Felicia Forbes in 2003. He died on December 10, 2020 at the age of 62, reportedly displaying symptoms of COVID-19.
