Traffic Reporter Jeff Baugh: What Caused His Death?

Longtime LA traffic reporter Jeff Baugh passed after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was 81.

Baugh, a New York native, relocated to Los Angeles in 1979. He was a former DJ at Carlos and Charlie’s on the Sunset Strip, spinning records for the exclusive “El Privado Room” crowd. 

After interning at a few local radio stations and graduating from broadcasting school in 1988, he landed a job as a traffic reporter at KFWB.

On April 3, 2017, he became known as KFI News’ “KFI In The Sky.”

Over 35 years, he helped drivers in Southern California deal with flag alerts, rush-hour gridlock, and catastrophic wildfires.

Even during the worst traffic jams, listeners said his updates were “upbeat and positive.”

Baugh served in Vietnam while in the Marines. He enjoyed tinkering with automobiles and NHRA drag racing outside of the office, and he even wrote a book with a friend called “Stick With Us, And We’ll Get You There: How To Be Where You Wanna Be On The Road And In Life.”
