If Cody Rhodes can't slow down The Rock when the two men eventually square off in the ring, the American Nightmare should call up someone from the production on The Smashing Machine for advice.

In a video posted on social media, The Rock revealed he suffered an elbow injury that might include some "soft tissue damage" while filming scenes for the movie.

Displaying his arm for the camera, The Rock described it as looking like he has a cantaloupe at the bottom of his elbow. He said he'll need to get the fluid drained from the elbow before he can get an MRI.

The Smashing Machine is the second film based on the life and career of mixed martial arts legend Mark Kerr. The first, titled The Smashing Machine: The Life and Times of Mark Kerr, was a 2002 documentary that premiered on HBO.

Mike Johnson of PW Insider reported production on the film was set to begin on May 1 and would last for three months.

A24, which is distributing the movie, released the first image of The Rock as Kerr on May 21.

Any injury to The Rock is going to cause concerns for multiple reasons. The first is that it could impact production on the movie, which will reportedly run through Aug. 1.

The second—and more important for the purposes of the possible WrestleMania 41 main event—is how it might impact his availability for a return to the ring. The Final Boss and Rhodes strongly indicated they will have a match during a promo on the Raw after WrestleMania.

The Rock didn't give any indication in the video that he was concerned about the injury, but he won't know the true extent of the issue until imaging is completed.

Even though the match with Rhodes is not officially confirmed, it's reportedly in the works for next year's WrestleMania at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

The Raw after WrestleMania was the last time the Rock appeared on WWE television. He pinned Rhodes in the main event of night one at WrestleMania 40 in his first full match since 2013 when he lost to John Cena in the main event of WrestleMania 29.
