Gino Odjick is undoubtedly a well-known name in Canadian hockey. With a net worth estimated at over $3 million and a height of 6’3″, he was a towering presence on the ice rink.
Born in Maniwaki, Canada to Joe and Marie-Antoinette, he began to foster a great love for the game of hockey when he was only nine years old.
As Gino’s skill set continued to improve, he was eventually sent to residential school in Spanish, Ontario where his identification number was registered as 29 — this same number would later be taped to his jersey as an homage to his achievements as it followed him up until his retirement in 2002.
Dedicated to mastering the game, Odjick made over twelve seasons in the NHL playing with iconic teams such as Vancouver Canucks, New York Islanders, Philadelphia Flyers, and Montreal Canadiens.
He certainly proved himself to be one of Canada’s best ice hockey players of all time.
Gino Odjick was an illustrious life taken from this world far too soon. Born on September 7, 1970, in Maniwaki, Canada, Gino celebrated his 52nd birthday just three months before he tragically left this world – passing away suddenly due to a heart attack on the 15th of January 2023.
The news of his passing was announced by his friend Peter Leech, who remembered the horrible moment when Gino collapsed in the clinic after suffering a heart attack.
Unfortunately, despite 45 minutes of nursing care and support, Gino couldn’t be saved and succumbed to the illness at the young age of 52 and a height of 1.91m.
His friends and family grieve at his loss, as they only wish they could’ve had him for much longer.
